[new layout Malden] Naval Superiority

Layout:Naval Superiority
Author: Likbjorn
Faction 1: blufor
Faction 2: opfor
Description:
This layout is aimed on combined arms warfare on upcoming Malden. Fight for control over strategic objectives on east side and for civilian territories on west. Northern team managed to set up Camp Seal and therefore they obtained Old Barracks on island before first contact. However South has stronger position on main part of Malden as they have height advantage on west flank and villa de Blanches as FOB.

Layout is asymmetric itself, as ideal balance leads to stalemates and here connections and objectives you fight for are more justified by common sense. However, I tried to give advantages to both sides of conflict even with unbalanced flanks.

Mission file updated:
- Filled up Blanches with objectives to make it fit better to villa, occupied by armed forces.
- Added civilian vehicles in garages and randomised which vehicle will spawn here (thx GiPPO for explaining how to).

Turned the northern base boatshop 180°
Moved southern boatshop flag a bit higher
Simple object on: huron containers
Simple object off: cargo containers (for working doors)

Made it blufor vs independent. There's too much of blufor vs opfor Malden layouts and there's no blu vs ind

There is a high risk with this layout that other players will cross the runway, causing friction within the team as jets and vehicle get lost in the process.

There is a good road around airstrip. If you doubt they use it - I'll make some barriers in order to make vehicle trip to runway longer. And this one should be really CSAT vs NATO. You can make another of my layouts independent, but not this one, please! Let me think about it.

One of reasons is in that both CSAT and NATO has good cargo helicopters and transport can have significant role here.

Did someone see my last requests? :) This one should be red vs blue! And Dents du Midi can be AAF vs NATO, Larche - AAF vs CSAT. But not this one.

Played this just once, and i was AAF hardly loosing (1 flag ours, 1 flags was about to loose as i joined), and my team was mostly camping and doing shit, cause the mass of good players joined opfor (they know that opfor is stronger on such layouts^^)

I feel you are right. Either AAF shall not be an option for some layouts (water layouts, and big, long endouring matches), cause their equipment is not competitive in certain categories, or AAF needs a buff, or other factions need a debuff, when playing against AAF (no inf thermals, no AA Tank, and some debuff for helis).

So i can not give much feedback.

We only had harbour flag, and i wished, there would be a civilian boatshop on the island, so that we had more options.

Don't really understand the issue with AAF. AK12 is highly competitive and a lot of their gear is very cheap (RPG7, light vehicles, etc), allowing you to save money where other factions have to sink more into over a match.

In addition, the uniform camo works very well and they can more easily hide their MHQs inside buildings. CSAT for example cannot even park theirs in the typical white warehouses.

Where AAF are lacking is anti-air and attack helicopters mainly. Attack helis will be adjusted eventually once we roll out the next improvements for pylon usage, theoretically giving them a 8rnd scalpel platform.

The jet situation has improved somewhat with the introduction of the Gryphon, which comes at a competitive price.

NATO/US also does not have access to thermal uniforms (only the brits do), so that is not a valid argument for me, and it helps the brits to compensate for their 5.56 centric gear in return.

I have an idea to remove Port flag and connect flags to Harbor to get gameplay more focused on transportation and naval action on eastern flank. From what I've seen before - island is ignored most of time. But should it be implemented?

Likbjorn,

few suggestions:

1. Remove: Port, Harbor, Old Barraks
2. Remove: Storage, Port, Harbord
3. Remove: Storage, Port, Harbor, Old Barracks

as far as I saw ... Arudy and Guran are the major fight flags.

I like suggestion 3 most ;).

good layout anyways.

keep up the good work

Ivan

I will not delete flags on island as it was core of layout. I agree that most of times you only see skirmish on port/storage without tactics. I hope connection pattern that will not allow you to push this flank without capturing island will be better. I'll upload new version soon.

Update:
- Objective "Port" removed.
- Storage and Power Plant are directly connected to Harbor.
- Added linked military boatshop to Harbor and civilian one on previous Port location.

Yes, it is. Southern team has advantage in height, so it's easier for them to capture Arudy. North have additional advantage then having precaptured island objective. To the end, it's Naval superiority layout.
