[new layout Altis] Neochori (Lite)

Layout:Neochori (Lite)
Author: Westerner
Faction 1: Blufor
Faction 2: Independent
Description:

Key points:

* Map is aimed for closer combat as action is centered around small towns (Poliakko, Alikampos, Katalaki, Neochori, Stavros, Lakka). However, there are also some great vantage points for snipers.

* 3 key flags are Neochori, Gas & Church. Neochori flag is based around the Harbour whilst Gas & Church are located in Agios Dyonysios which is serviced by 2 roads that both factions will race too. The question is - which area is the priority?

* MHQ travel times to all flags are very similar for both sides. Gave alot of consideration to making sure map is balanced. Expect intense, fast paced action suited to infantry.

* No boat shops intentional. Felt this would place too much emphasis on support from the water.

Thanks!

My changes:
Repositioned UAV service points a bit
Removed Standard service points from runways and placed one in the middle of the layout. (on the runways, they were pretty close to the base, which is better to use since it's protected)

uploaded the new mission.sqm

Thanks for checking everything Gippo.

First time I've done this so can you let me know what happens next please?

And I can't see a new copy of the sqm to download - do I get a copy of that in case any further changes are needed?

Thanks

As soon as I'm finished with the layouts on my list, I will create a voting for all the accepted ones and the best 10-ish will put into the next server #4 rotation.

You should see at the end of your first post, then again, not sure how the permissions are set up. We will look into it. ( totally thought you guys are seeing it, and here I am writing changelog, uploading it then you cannot even see it :D )

The gas station is unbalanced in favour of the southern hq. Given that it will most likely be a game turning flag also it is important it is equal travel time and hq hiding spots to both flags

Thanks for the feedback.

Can you explain further why you think it's imbalanced?

Travel time to Gas is very similar from HQ's - I have timed both.

...can see why it maybe looks that way from just the map, but the road from Lakka to Gas better and quicker than the one from Alikampos to Gas.

Took quite a bit of time thinking about making sure it was balanced so if it's anything else please let me know.

Thanks

Hi Gippo.

Would it be possible to swap the factions around?

e.g. have Blufor as the faction with the Zaros base and Opfor as the Gravia one?

Trying to help balancing and thinking this may help. What do you think?

Thanks

The sides are random as are the sub-factions.

The one thing we cannot randomize at the moment (apex broke that) is what main factions are used per layout.

Thanks for the quick reply Nyles.

Bit confused as I do remember having to specify what factions I wanted to be on the map when I submitted it.

The main factions, which you specified, (blufor opfor or independent) cannot be randomized at the moment.
The subfactions (uk/US (blu), china/iran (opfor) etc.) are randomized as well as the starting positions, in your case which faction gets Zaros or Gravia base.
So seeing two or three times the same setup is unfortunate but possible.

Hi Gippo,

After playing this a couple of times, think it could do with 2 relatively minor changes.

1. New Flag (Church) - Based in Agios this flag will allow this area of the map to be more tightly contested alongside 'Gas'. Aim is to draw more players away from the key 'Harbour' flag in Neochori.

2. Weather - Map was meant to have 0% chance of rain and clear skies when I initially submitted it but I think I messed up. Aim of this was to bring snipers further into play as they can take up prime spots in the surrounding hillsides. Think I've fixed this now but if you could check that would be great.

Thanks again for your time in reviewing these.

New sqm uploaded.

p.s. can't figure out how to post a new image of the map

Thanks Deeelite. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hoping the addition of the church flag will make close quarter combat in Agios more interesting too.

Hi Gippo,

Feel this map is close to being very good but is just off at the moment. Aim originally was for it to be intense, close quarter combat action with rounds lasting 3-4 hours.

The first bit I think it does well but if there an an uneven number of players, or if all experienced players opt for Opfor then the round can be over very quickly due to it being such a small map.

So I have 2 small change requests to try and fix this...

1) One pre-captured flag for each faction each rather than two - The idea is to force more decisions earlier in the round and to allow more time for other players to join the game. Four pre-captured flags out of nine on such a small map is just too many. Therefore I have removed Palms and Statue from being pre-captured.

2. Change Opfor faction to Independent - I have listened to what aTWar has said regarding the more powerful weapons Opfor infantry have and have also noticed they are the more popular team players join at the beginning of rounds. This gives them too much of an advantage. Feel Independent v Blufor would offer better balance. Please could you change this?

Thanks again for your help and time in looking after these.

New SQM uploaded, map overview and original factions updated.
